You’ll live your life running
Said the mouse to his children.
For many a life’s lived
In ending our own.
With mouths full of thunder
And paws that grow thorns,
Never, no never
Will they leave us alone.
You’ll live your life running
Said the cat to her children.
Our prey don’t just sprout up
And drop at our feet.
In scent or in sound
The best are betrayed.
If we don’t out-pace them
There is no hope or meat.
With one morning’s hunger
The mouse left his children.
While four kittens waited
For their mother’s return.
The young mice stayed lonely,
And the kittens weren't hungry.
In life and in death
Did the two families learn.

I sleep inside your closet. Your old winter coats share stories with me because we have something in common: you havent touched us in years. You grew up, and you didnt need a jacket to stay warm, and you didnt need a girl to play house with.
I remember the old adage when I wear your shoes. They are six sizes too big and they dont even have imprints of your toes in them, because they are your dress shoes, your dance shoes, your rain boots. Finally I find that I fit comfortably into the tennis shoes you outgrew eight years ago, but all I can judge from your little toeprints is that you hated show-and-tell because you ne

I Tried To Write A Poem...
i tried to write a poem
a poem just for You
but when i sought to find the words
like hummingbirds, they flew!
i tried to bake some cookies
a dozen, just for You
but before they hit the oven
we'd shared the yummy goo
i tried to paint a picture
a picture just for You
but the colors all ran out of line
like sunlight through the dew
i tried to plant a garden
wildflowers, just for You
but when i'd tilled and sown the soil
too tall for me they grew!
i tried to find a treasure
a treasure just for You
but when i looked inside the chest
i found a gift from You
i tried to tell a story
a mystery, just for You
but when i lost the vi

Slaves Of Their Will
They pull on the strings,
They dictate our lives,
They do what they want
Yet they control our minds.
The things that they do
Tell all helpless souls
That our lives are not ours
But theirs to control.
Some fight for freedom,
But they are soon killed,
To them, we are puppets,
Just slaves of their will.
